Dateline: April 2019

So it’s been a little while since I last updated you all. Since “snowmageddon” stormed through after my last post, we’ve finally dug our way out of that mess and have been rewarded with an amazing spring. Not normal for the Pacific Northwest to get warm weather and sunshine throughout the month of March, but I’ll take it.

Even with all the nice weather, I found the time to finish all my edits and revisions on the latest version of Between The Beats. It has now been sent off to an editor for a SWOT analysis. Because I am still waiting on that, I have held off sending out any new queries. The editor in question is also a part of a publishing company, so maybe, fingers crossed, they’ll like it enough to take a chance on this writer. Even if they don’t, it’s still a win for me, because I get their valuable feedback and can only make the story better.

In the meantime, I’m working on book 2. This one doesn’t have any sort of title yet. Unlike Between The Beats, which came to me before the actual story, I haven’t quite figured out that part of it yet. I do have a good idea of who the characters are, and the setting. Las Vegas, late 1950s. So based on that there will be plenty of good music references, gambling, showgirls, atomic bomb testing, and some other twists, that well, you’ll just have to wait to find out more about.

On a more personal note, (if you subscribe to my newsletter, you’ve already heard this news), but starting in July I will be moving out of the sticks and bricks home that I’ve been living in for the last 6 1/2 years, and will be calling an RV home. Essentially the road will be my home, wherever I decide to go and stay for any length of time is where you’ll find me.

The family and I do have our journey mapped out until March of 2020, covering everywhere from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona. But after that, it’s the open road ahead. One of the things I’m looking forward to is the chance to visit local bookstores and see what people are reading in other parts of the country. And attractions. Like the world’s largest beagle dog bark park, or maybe the world’s first motel, or the big silver slipper. Have a suggestion for something I should see, let me know in the comments. Once we’re on the road, I plan to be posting more about our travels and what we see or who we encounter along the way. I’m sure there will be many sources of story material that I will come across too.

In the meantime, enjoy a view of the University of Washington Cherry Blossoms, without having to experience the crowds.
